Privacy Policy

November 27, 2007
QuakeDog is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of users of this website (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy explains how we keep your information secure, who has access to your personal information, and how we use your personal information.

Your account information is password-protected for your privacy and security. We safeguard the security of the data you send us with physical, technical and administrative procedures. In certain areas of our websites, we use industry-standard SSL-encryption to enhance the security of sensitive data transmissions. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit to us, and so we urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet. Change your passwords often, use a combination of letters and numbers, and make sure you use a secure browser.

How we keep your information secure
Keeping your confidential information secure is a critical aspect of what we do. Frankly, if we don’t feel comfortable putting our own personal information on the Website, we wouldn’t feel comfortable asking you to do the same. We take the following steps:
  • All of your information is encrypted using industry-standard SSL encryption before it is sent over the Website. This protects your information from being intercepted while it’s being sent over the internet.
  • Your confidential and sensitive information is stored encrypted on a dedicated server. The server is locked and caged in a secure hosting environment that restricts the employees that can access the server. All extra ports on the server are closed off so no one can access the data through a port.
  • We do not store your password. We calculate a mathematical representation of your password called a "hash" so that when you log in we can verify you. This hash, and NOT your password is stored in our secure database. When you log in, we hash the password you submit, and look to see if it matches the hash that we have on file for your User ID. The hash cannot be used to decrypt your data, nor can the hash be easily "reversed" to help guess your password. We use that hash as the "key" for 256 bit Advanced Encrypted Standard (AES) encryption to both encrypt new data and decrypt existing data that you wish to view or download. Your password is "shredded" from this secure memory area when you log out or when your session expires due to inactivity, currently set to 10 minutes. We also use AES to encrypt the sensitive personal data we store about you, including your address and billing information such as your credit card number. 256 bit AES is so strong that the US Government has approved it to protect top secret classified data

In addition to the measures listed above, we have taken other reasonable physical, technical and administrative measures to protect your data.

Who has access to your information

  • Except as described in this Privacy Policy, your confidential and sensitive information is only available to those individuals that you grant access to.
  • Our employees do not have access to your confidential and sensitive data
  • We limit access to your information to those only employees who are trained in the proper handling of nonpublic client information and who need access to the information to perform their job functions.
  • If you have accessed this site through an institution that you do business with, your information is not provided to that institution unless you have specifically granted access to that institution or its representatives. For example, if an insurance company is providing you with access to this site, they do not have access to that information unless you specifically add the email address of a representative from that company to the individuals you have granted access.
  • We may disclose your personal information when required by law or regulation to regulatory, law enforcement or other government authorities. QuakeDog may also disclose such information when compelled by legal process.

How we use your information

  • We may automatically collect anonymous information, such as the domain from which you access the Internet, the browser you use, and your operating system. This information may be linked to your information. We may use this information to analyze and enhance our site, and may aggregate this information and share such aggregated information with business partners, sponsors and other third parties.
  • We do not use or disclose any of your nonpublic personal information to third parties without your consent unless those parties are providing services or support to us and have agreed to keep your nonpublic personal information confidential. Examples of these parties include the company we use to prepare and distribute emails or to perform our internal auditing. Even if you cease to transact business with QuakeDog, we will continue to apply the same protections to your nonpublic personal information as we did when you were an active client.
  • We use information for several general purposes: to fulfill your requests for certain products and services, to personalize your experience on our Website, to keep you up to date on the latest product announcements, software updates, special offers or other information we think you would like to hear about either from us or from our business partners, and to better understand your needs and provide you with better services.

Changes in Ownership
In the event that QuakeDog, or any component of QuakeDog’ operations, is merged with, or is acquired by, another entity, then that successor or acquiring entity may become the successor to our obligations with respect to personal information that you have provided to QuakeDog, which would be necessary for the entity to effectively continue QuakeDog’ business. By using this Website, you consent to any such use of your personal information by an entity assuming control of QuakeDog’ operations as a result of a merger, purchase of QuakeDog’ assets, or liquidation of QuakeDog in bankruptcy or insolvency.

Cookies
A cookie is a very small text file sent by a web server and stored on your hard drive, your computer’s memory, or in your browser so that it can be read back later. Cookies cannot “read” information about you from your computer or be used to “steal” information about you; and cookies don’t carry viruses. Cookies are a basic way for a server to identify you (most cookies actually identify the computer you happen to be using at the time, not you personally). Cookies are used for many things from personalizing start up pages to facilitating online purchases. Cookies help sites recognize return visitors and they perform a very important function when you engage in secure Internet transactions. For your security, we do not store any of your personal information in cookies. Our product uses encrypted cookies that do not pass to your computer’s hard drive. Instead, the cookie is stored in your computer’s memory, identifying only your computer while you are logged on. Only our service provider can read the information in these cookies. This cookie allows us to process multiple transactions during your session without requiring you to reenter your pass code for each individual transaction. These cookies simply provide another level of security for our product. When you log off, or close your browser, the cookie is destroyed. A new cookie is used for each session. That way, no one can use the prior cookie to access your account. We do not (and cannot) use this cookie to collect or obtain new personal information about you. You must allow your browser to accept this cookie so you can use the product. If you prefer not to receive cookies while browsing our Website or via HTML-formatted emails, you can set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies and refuse the cookie when your browser alerts you to its presence. You can also refuse all cookies by turning them off in your browser, although you may not be able to take full advantage of QuakeDog’ website if you do so. In particular, you may be required to accept cookies in order to complete certain actions on our Website. You do not need to have cookies turned on, however, to use/navigate through many parts of our Website, except access to certain of QuakeDog’ web pages may require a login and password.

Children
QuakeDog is committed to protecting the privacy of children. This Website is not intended for minors. No information should be submitted to our Website by users under the age of 13, and we do not collect information from any user we have reason to believe is a child under the age of 13.

Third Party Sites
Our Website may contain links to websites operated by other companies. Although we choose our business partners carefully, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of web sites operated by third parties that are linked to our site. Once you have left our Website, you should check the applicable privacy statement of the third party website to determine how they will handle any information they collect from you.

You can edit or delete your personal information that is maintained by QuakeDog at any time by submitting a written request by mail or e-mail to the contact person listed below.

Your Role in Protecting Your Privacy

Also, if you share a computer with others, it is your responsibility that any sensitive information accessed through the Website is not shared with others. If you leave your computer, remember to log out of this Website.

Changes to this Privacy Statement
We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information, we will make that information available by posting a notice on this site. We display a version number and a date on the policy in the upper right corner of this Privacy Policy so that it will be easier for you to know when there has been a change.
